Shuar Character - English

Mésak

Our character is Mésak which  represents the reduced head. It is a practice of the Shuar people of "reducing heads". Our character represents when the natives keep the heads of their enemies as a talisman and war trophy. Originally, Mésak had a religious meaning, it was believed to take the spirit of the enemy. The name was chosen because it involved their three fundamental spitits that the Shuar people believed in.

The practice of this ritual was banned many years ago, and now Shuar people work hard to erase the fame of wild warriors.
